84 GMC, Olypmic sticker.

Has anyone seen a sticker like this or have one on their truck? It doesnt have anything to do with options and I'm sure most of them were peeled off over the years.

Re: 84 GMC, Olypmic sticker.

As I remember all of the '84 GMCs at the So Cal area Jimmy dealers were plastered with those stickers on new '84 trucks. The GMC special edition that always comes to my mind is the Harley-Davidson 90th Birthday model that was done in 1993.

They hyped the snot out of it, and when I got my first look at the truck in Milwaukee at Harley's 90th I couldn't believe how cheesy it was. Nothing more than a couple of H-D / GMC 90th stickers stuck on the side of a black truck with no special options.

That said, I think you could put your truck on eBay and list it as a very rare '84 LA Olympics edition. — just a thought

Re: 84 GMC, Olypmic sticker.

I'm pretty sure that is was simply bragging rights for G.M., to have had an official truck in the 84 Olympics. Sort of showing off,.. Buick had the same deal, with "Olympic" edition cars in 84.. used to commemorate the fact that Los Angeles was hosting the Olympics that year.

Re: 84 GMC, Olypmic sticker.

Special Edition? The only thing on the truck that's special is the sticker. It was a 6 cyl 3 speed bare bones truck. Rubber floor mat, one mirror, and no A/C no headliner. It does have dark red upholstery, in a factory red truck which is something I havent seen and cant find the correct color for when looking for a new dashboard top.

Besides the truck represents a lot of firsts for me so it's beyond priceless to me.

I've never seen a red truck that did not have a red interior.

Is a cool sticker though.

You are exactly correct.

You could get the brown (saddle) interior in a red truck, too (at least for Suburban) but you are correct; most were red with burgundy.

I ordered my truck that way and the ladies in my family hated it since day one.

Re: 84 GMC, Olypmic sticker.

I guess I was wrong on the interior color. All of the new dash board tops I have found were the wrong color so I thought it was an odd color. My grandad's 87 was a Sierra Classic, red and tan exterior with a red interior but it was loaded with a lot of options.

Nobody likes my maroon interior either, I have been getting heavy hints that I need to redo it black, but with no A/C that isnt happening.

I'm guessing nobody else has seen one these stickers, I always thought it was kinda cool, and never thought of peeling it off.

I also have a windshield out of a 75, that has a vintage Edelbrock waterslide decal.

Re: 84 GMC, Olypmic sticker.

Just chiming in with what everyone else has said, but my dad bought a new dually in '84 and it had the same sticker in it. I'd forgotten about it until I saw this post.

By the way, the dually was red with red interior.

I've seen those stickers before on the trucks... Like i said earlier, I've seen em on the Buicks too..(Mom's friend had a big 4 door 84 Buick Electra, that had that sticker on it too) I always can remember big cool cruisers like that... lol
