Re: Bad bad news

Lol alright. Here's what I did I took the wheel off (thinking the brakes were locked up) but spent an hour trying to get the drum off (not easy at all with the brakes on lol) I had to use a big pipe cuz I didn't have a hammer around and beat the drum off looked at the springs and all that everything was good but the primary shoe was out to have so I messed with a few things but nothing would get the shoe to move back after a bit I ran out of ideas so I had my friend pull the e-brake relase just for the heck of it and I'm sorry to say but that fixed it. I didn't even look at the e-brake that day I have no idea how it got pressed. It must have done it when I pressed on the brakes really hard I don't know how tho its weird and as for the noise the power sterring belt is all tour up and kinda loose so I'm going to get a new next week. How do you loosen the P/S belt to get it off I don't see how to do it. Thanks guys.

There should be about 3 bolts holding that PS pump on. Loosen them up and you will see how it's adjusted to get the belt on and off. Might as well replace all the belts while you are at it as they aren't too expensive. How about a new carrier bearing before it goes?

Re: Bad bad news

The other belt is kinda new already and I will have to pay somebody to replace the carrier bearing so it'll have to wait a bit.

And at the risk of sounding like someone's Dad, while you are under the hood, give the hoses a good hard look.... as well as the return spring on the throttle linkage. Eyeball the condition of the battery cables, spark plug wires etc.

It IS an old truck and it WILL need stuff. Better to catch it now than to have it leave you stuck on the road.

He's new....young....not yet wise to the ways of older vehicles. Sometimes the slope of the learning curve LOOKS steep. We are here to help.
