Any experience with this exhaust kit?
Looking at it for an 84 K10 with Longtubes....
I like the fact that it has an H-pipe but does it come with reducers with the collector flanges? Doesn't say. Oh and any sound clips ? here's the kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-89024/?rtype=10

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
Where does it say there is an H-pipe? I don't like the price and the crush bends. A few years ago, I bought the Hooker kit for $100 less, and it has mandrel bends.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
I don't have any experience with that kit but did buy the Dynomax kit Summit sells and it was a very nice overall. All bends were nice and smooth and the fit was spot on, came with everything except mufflers. I decided to go with Flowmasters instead of turbo muffler that was also offered in a kit.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
In my experience, I would tend to stay away from an exhaust that does not have mandrel bends.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
I thought $260 was a good price figuring it has an H pipe included. It says so in the bottom description
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-89024/ ch2000, that's actually more up our alley. What part number/type of flowmaster did you use and was their any modifying needed to the exhaust itself to accomodate the flows? It says in the description to use a Center in Offset out muffler but the length was what i was concerned about. OH and did you use the Header back kit or Manifold back kit ? (assuming your truck has headers) I think the dynomax kit, into some Super 40's, and we'll use band clamps for easy removal/install of future different mufflers. Then we'll just take it to the exhaust shop nearby and have an H-pipe welded in. I can't believe flowmasters are $90 each though....

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
Man skip those and get the Pypes kit, it is the best I have seen for these trucks, use their Violator mufflers, it comes with a X-pipe.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
I used the header back kit and on the Flowmasters I don't remember the part number as it was a while back. The center in - offset out is pretty common for them its just a matter of the id for snug fit. If you give Summit a call they can confirm the part number for you. I had no issues at all with this kit and the install was easy.
Flowmasters are a little pricey but if you check arround you can find them cheaper some times. Quote:

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
You could always go with magnaflow mufflers. I just put a magnaflow on my burb and am very pleased and impressed with the sound and tone. That and it was $72 and change from summit. And it's stainless too.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
Pypes system doesn't tuck very well at all for the average diy'er.

What does tuck mean? Pipe to pipe? Under the truck?

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
Yes, not closely fitting to the body and bed at all. I do like that its manderal bent tube and the mufflers sound good. But short of being an exhaust shop or skilled with exhaust work it will hang low. I have hooker headers and the pypes system. Installed it myself ended up having to have an exhaust shop redo it. I couldn't get the x-pipe to work that well. I didn't really care for the sound with it. When the exhaust was reworked it wasn't added. Also remember having trouble with some of the pipe connection fitting. Some spots had same size OD pipe so that means welding it or exhaust band clamps.
Just going off of what I experienced when I bought my system and the trouble. Its been about 4-5 years now. I don't think I have any pictures of what it used to look like.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
That's good information. My Pypes system will be arriving at my house today. I hope they got the bugs worked out of it.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
Welp, the Pypes kit showed up. Looks like the only thing missing is collectors. Guess I gotta go find some of them.

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
I could give you pics of the exhaust I took out. That'd make you laugh. I did manage to save the old collectors off the flex pipe on the old exhaust.

Did you have to buy Collectors/reducers and weld them to the end of the dynomax pipes? Did you just by the flanges? Looks like the pictures they just need the 3 bolt flanges them selves (things that look like triangles) I'm confused how all that works. The flanges on the exhaust side of his current exhaust are bent badly so they will need to be replaced. But the flanges on the headers them selves are in good shape. These are what i'm talking about BTW.....i like how the flange is actually welded to the pipe on this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JEX-AWHC300/?rtype=10

Re: Any experience with this exhaust kit?
The kit doesn't come with collectors if I remember correctly - my headers came a set which I did weld on the kit. I will have to look at the truck when I get home as I think the pipes were a slip fit over the collectors which could be just clamped. It has been a while since I put it on but come to think of it I might have a some left over pipes from another kit that came from Summit that I picked up off of Craigslist I will check them out as well and let you know.
