You Need help finding parts?

I am partially disabled and can't work right now, so this gives me something to do. If you are needing help on finding something, email me direct and I will look for you. I usually go to the salvage yards around here 3-4 times a week. Becoming a regular at them.
Will need to know what part, type of vehicle, if you have a pic of the part, that would help me alot. I only charge you what they charge me at the salvage yard and only charge for actual shipping. I usually go there to just look around and have something to do. Gets boring at home when you have been not allowed to work for over a year. Email me direct will help also.

I know there is a 73 custom c-10 and a 76 sierra truck out there. I will check them tomorrow. Do you know if all 73-80's will mate up to each other? I have been disabled since november 22,2001 when one of my loads fell on me and crushed my right wrist and hand. Can now only lift 20 lbs with it. My left hand and arm have gotten much stronger picking up the slack.

I could use some help. I need a gas hose holder for an '83 truck. I need the passengerside. One from a 77 to 83 should fit. The screws to bolt the holder to the bed would be nice too.

I am trying to understand where this holder you are talking about is. Is it between the filler hole and the fuel tank, or from the fuel tank forward. I should be able to find that part pretty easy with all the trks in this one salvage yard. If you can give me more info, I would appreciate it. I plan to go there around 1 or 2pm on Wednesday, so if you can let me know something before this time, I will check then. My next trip there will be on Friday.

I need a driveshaft for a 81 2WD Blazer. 73-82 should all be the same outta a 2WD. Also a set of lower control arms that are really nice rustfree (compared to the stuff from Rust/Saltbelt Michigan). Any good 89-91 GMC Suburban style frontends there? Tailgates?

The part is a plastic molding that bolts to the bed and holds the neck of the fuel fill hose. In the LMC catalogue it's called the Housing Filler Hose.

The suburban frontends,tailgates might be a trick. Depending on what you need on frontend and which type of tailgate(for suburban or truck)

On the driveshaft and lower control arms, I need to know if it is a full size blazer or the smaller s-10 style. Email me direct would help me a lot

I don't mind helping out. It gives me something to do. I think this past year I have been at home is driving my wife crazy. I asked her if I could do this since I go to salvage yards anyway for our 84 suburban, and she said it was a good idea. Now that I am released from dr care, I am waiting on testing by the vocational rehab personnel to help me go back to school and retrain in another career. I have limited use of my right hand and wrist. Only can lift about 20 lbs with it. And my wrist doesn't hardly move at all. 3 surgeries and they had to fuse all the bones in the hand and wrist together. So now I am teaching my left hand how to do things and to get in those tight corners.

If you see some '77 - '80 door panels laying around, I need a couple of those. I'd prefer grey bug can die them if not. Also looking for a shift indicator for a 3-speed. Also looking for a stepside bed, but that's a little big to ship.

lilbubba, thats not true about them all being the same. there were AT LEAST 10 different tranny/rear combos available over the years you mentioned . although the GM trucks are not as bad as the Fords, where you have to know the birth date of the guy who assembled the truck, I can tell you that you need to take measurement from back of tailashaft to yoke cup and stick to it . Even the 10 bolt versus 12 bolt makes a difference. the 12 bolts actually have different center line of axle to yoke cup dimension than a 10 bolt and also have different size cups/caps on the U-joint. A 1 inch difference, if it is too long, can ruin your day when you go over a bump and it jams the front yoke of the driveshaft up into the rear of the tranny, it knocks the seal out first and will eventually break the tailhousing, or if it is too short on the rebound from a bump will almost exit the tailshaft and eventually remove the splines! . BE REAL careful here. I have been down this road many times and once I tried for 2 months to help a member here with this type problem before. We supposedly had an 'easy' one with a TH350 & 10 bolt and still had a heck of a time because it was an oddball th350 with one of the 3 different tailshaft lengths.. DAVE

If you can find a set of clean chrome trim rings on the parking lights (may need the headlights if I lose an ebay auction) for the front end of the 73-78 models. Also if they have a chrome aftermarket grill for the same year style let me know a price. Thanks

I need a gear indicator for a aod transmision and a set of black seat belts for an 81 regular cab believe most any year will do.
I know what you mean about crawlin thru the yards still my favorite hobby but getting hard to find place that will let you pull it yourself.

My wife says she would support me thru no matter what. And believe me, I have put her thru hell sometimes. Unfortunately, the disability is permanent. In nov,01 one of my loads wasn't stacked on my trl right. When I got to the receiver and back there to unload it, some of it broke loose and fell on me. Now, after 3 surgeries, I have a 20% disability rating on my right hand and wrist. I can only lift about 20 lbs or so with it. Can't return to trks, due to DOT regs state I must be able to lift 70 lbs min. So I am now waiting on the insurance company and vocational rehab personnel to see what I can qualify to do. The only problem I have with it, is if I continually use it nonstop. So now I have been teaching my left hand to do all the work.

My wife gave me this idea of helping others. I would sometimes go out to the salvage yards, just to look around and have something to do. It also gives me a way to get out and not be cooped up inside. I have a problem with being inside a lot. I am a outdoors person. That is why I drove trucks cross country. To see the great outdoors.

Anyone else needing help looking for things, I don't mind. I understand when others have to work a lot and most yards do close on saturday. I guess they expect ppl to take off work for a day to get a part they need. So I will do my best to find what others are looking for. No guarantee I will find it. If I do, I will send you a pic of it and what the yard wants for it. That price is not including the shipping to you.

Crossy- thanks for the driveshaft info. I don't have one now and was looking to find one, didn't know there were that many possibilities. If I can find one close in lenght I can get it shortened if need be. Or change the front yoke. I was just trying not to have to have one custom made.

Will keep my eyes open for panels. On the indicator, I am presuming it is the P R N D 2 1 style. Let me know. Email me is fine also. I can locate a bed, but you have to come up here to Little Rock,Ar to get it. It's only 5-6 hour drive one way. Maybe longer, they are tearing the hell out of the interstates up here.

I think I know the chrome rings you are talking about. Send me the auction site so I can make sure I get the right ones if you do lose it. If you win it, let me know so I will mark it off the list. I will look for the chrome grille. Might be a little harder.

i can relate to your dislike of being confined to the house, i tore tendons to two fingers on my left hand a few years back. i was out for 8 months and i'm surprised my wife didn't kill me. the one good thing that came from it-- i found this site, up until then, i'd never touched a computer.

Tommy,i saw someone else posted they needed the filler pipe housing the hold the gas neck behind the fuel door. I took my bed off my 78 gmc and replaced it with a bed from an 85 chevrolet and need that piece also,as well as the vent hose and the fuel filler hose,all for the passenger side. Let me know what you find,and how much its going to cost me. Thanks Tommy. Heath
