Talking My 4.5/0 ba-donk-a-donk drop

I started the install of my "budget drop" kit. I picked up a pair of McGaugheys 2.5" drop spindles from a parted project for $50. I used a set of factory HD front coils, cutting one full coil off of each one. Afterwards, I measured 27" from the garage floor to the bottom lip of the fenderwell on both sides, running 215/70's on a set of 15x7 rallyes. Prior to swapping out the factory 1/2 ton coils and factory spindles, I measured 31.5" and 31" respectively. I figured with this combo I have around a 4-4.5" drop in front. I am going to need shorter sway bar brackets, as my floor jack is no longer able to slide underneath from the front. New shocks/alignment will also follow.

I also put in 02 Wrangler coils in the rear (free), hoping for a 4" drop. As you can see, that did not happen. Even with a lot of heavy junk in the bed, it remained at the same height as the factory coils. Can't figure, everyone else says they get 4" out of them. Oh well, with the front the way it is now I am going to go with a 5" rear drop, as I prefer a slight rake rather than a level stance that the 6" coils give. Before that however, I plan to cruise around as-is, with the Ba-Donk-a-Donk look

Here are some pics, I also got the front end/doors/cab/hood aligned and the 402/400 driveline installed, so this is with full weight. Looks like a stinkbug

Looking good Scott. You've got a lot done to it since I saw it last.

When I read "donk" in the title, I half expected 24" rims with a lift. Pleasantly surprised. Nice look!

Thumbs up Re: My 4.5/0 ba-donk-a-donk drop

I got the driveshaft put in today...was able to find a combination U-Joint to run the TH400 yoke, keeping the factory set-up I go on vacation next week, and hope to get it running then. I'll take a torch to the rear springs just for fun before I put in the 5" drop springs. I plan on driving it down to the exhaust shop (already got the mufflers in the bed) and getting it on the road...
