Need some Disc Brake wizards.

Hey gang,
I'm doing a disc brake conversion on a '70. There is an o-ring of sorts that goes on the caliper bolts and sleeve, between the caliper and the boss on the spindle. I think it has something to do with the "floating" design. Is it necessary? When I put them in, the caliper and outer pad drag on the rotor. Without the o-rings, everything is free. I even tried a thinner section o-ring, but it still wants to drag on the outer pad. Will this center after bleeding and applying the brakes a few times? Don't want to leave them out, if needed, but not real sure.

Yes they are nessesary. There will be some drag till they are seated & disc brakes often have a little drag all the time. If the calipers were not rebuilt it can cause a drag.

X2. Also make sure you lube the o-rings with some silicone based grease.

O.K. I'm back and ready too admit what a Dumb-a$$ I am. I took one of the calipers off and realized that the o-ring I've been messing with is the one that came in the rebuilt calipers. I've been trying to sandwich one in between the caliper and the spindle boss. Plus. the one already in the caliper appear to be silicon coated and well lubed.
Put it back together and both rotors feel like their supposed to.

Got it all back together. 5-1/2" total drop. 2-1/2" spindles plus / one coil. Now the back end had got to come down.
