94 350 in 71 c10

I'm looking at buying a motor and trans for my truck and here are my choices:
94 suburban with a 350 and rebuilt trans. Has problem with speedo registering way too high and stalls when braking. I thought about converting it over to a carburetor.

1988 c30 with 350/350. (carbureted motor) This is a farm truck that allegedly has a fairly recent crate motor. Couldn't really drive it very fast to test the trans out. Seemed to start and run ok.

The suburban is $600 complete and the truck is $500 complete. My fear with the suburban is the unknown problem with it running poorly. I don't know much more about the truck but at least it runs ok.

Which way would you guys go?

I would go with whichever motor you feel more confident with. Personally, I would go with the truck since it runs decent, idles, and it will give you an extra $100 to spend toward tune-up or other expenses required to install in your truck.

Good advice.

Good point. Plus I might be able to use more parts off the truck, like the exhaust. So you don't see any great advantage to the later model FI system? I'm not using the truck as a daily driver and not anticipating much highway use.
