1948 Thriftmaster

Just want to introduce myself and my truck.
I'm up in Massachusetts and bought the truck in Boston in a Newbury St. parking garage.

The trucks history working backwards...
2010 My driveway
-Black w/ interior painted gold
-Rusty diamond plate covering rotted bed
-It has a 235ci babbitt
-1969 North Carolina License plate (scaly rust)
-1969 north Carolina inspection sticker on driverside windshield
-Fort Bragg registration sticker on bumpers 3rd Army 18th Airborn
-Not a single thing missing EXCEPT VIN PLATE removed when painted gold
-Everything else all original equiptment except directionals added
-Smells like sh*t!
2009 Guy picks its up on a job in North Carolina from a barn (hence the smell)
1969 Parked in said barn where it sat for the next 40 years
-Somewhere between 1948 and 1969 the color was changed from Windsor Blue to black (having painted the blue grill to white) and the interior from grey to gold, swapped the 216 for the 235. Oh and added Cheftain radio which had to be mounted upside down in dash. And thats it.
1948 factory floor
Please help... if anyone has ever caught wind of this truck please contact me. Ideally I'd like to get the original numbers and possibly do a little tribute on the previous owner (the soldier from bragg). I'm waiting to hear back from the NC registry of motor vehicles to find the owner from 1969 using the plate numbers
Thanks. Michael

Wow they would pull the most important thing off when painting it

Sounds like it will be a good project!

Welcome to the boards from OKC !!

The 1969 NC Plate is 6061-TC
Here are some pics. I hope you like them. They were from the day I brought her home.
