Re: lowering?

My question is can you actually drive it safely around (you know maybe 50 miles a week) till you get the dropped shocks as well as relocaters and adjustable panhard? Is there a correct way to measure for getting the correct shocks if your making a budget system (tj springs)?

Re: lowering?

With a 4" drop even a modest amount of driving could tear the stock shocks from their mounts, or tear a mount off the diff or frame - I've seen it happen.

Re: lowering?

I'm running a 5.5" Front Drop/6" Rear Drop on my 72 GMC Short Fleet.
Alread had 2 .5" Drop Spindles in front.
Went with CPP's Shock/Sprin Kit.
Have had no problems in the last year with,
any type of damage to the Shock Towers.

DISCLAINER: Not saying that there HASN'T been those types of problems, just giving you my situation as it stands.

My kit cost me about $299.00 (If I remember correctly).

Re: lowering?

After seeing the geometry before and after, I would not recommend it. One pothole and u could be in trouble.

Well I live in a Mountanious area, surrounded by windy 2 lane roads and highways, with many potholes, ruts, pavment cupping and so far so good.

Re: lowering?

I think someone on here has figured out what shocks to order off of summit for a drop. I can't remember who it was...maybe Tx FireFighter? He might chime in if he visits this thread, or you could pm him. You could try a search too, although I know its hard sometimes to find what you want.

Pretty much what TX FireFighter says is through life experience and a good member to listen to.
I've taken his advice on a lot of things in my 5 years here.
