Looking for a good setup to lay frame with my c-10

hey i wanna slam my 83 c10. i think im gonna start off with the bolt on 4 link & cantilever package from slam specialities and the step notch. i would like to know what other people are using and how they like the certain brand or setup. any other tips or suggestions would be great. thanks.... chevy rules

Welcome to the forum 83c10wit454. You will find that the most popular way to get your truck on the ground on this forum is with a raised crossmember. Spend some time reading through the various builds here and get back with us.

hey thanks for your guys info i enjoyed reading what you guys posted. but i am going to purchase the street scraper setup from airbagit.com. it is a 100% bolt on and will slam the frame with 14'' of travel... its prety sick

ok i have some other questions, will i be able to slam the front with stock control arms? i already have 2'' drop spindles and what is the advantage of tublier control arms. and i also have a big block and want to get an 8'' diameter bag, will they fit stock arms also? thanks for again for all the help.... chevy dominates all !!

might want to read up on airbagit.com...lot of negative feedback from them. i would skip the streetscaper and get a porterbuilt dropmember, front and rear. best bang for the buck by far. also, check *****************, they also sell a raised crossmember kit for the front and back. both are good, reputable companies.

Hey guys thanks for the info about airbagit.com, im glad i heard about the negative feedback before i ordered anything. I would still like to know the advantage of tubler control arms i want to slam my truck as low as possible but i still want to use stock controll arms, there has to be some reason why the darn things are so expensive.

Also kind of topic but wat are people running for exhaust, shorty headers, manifolds? I have long tube headers now and they sit below the frame and will probly need to get something different. Thanks again info guys..... theres no replacement for displacement!!

Tubular arms will typically offer better alignment options for the extreme lowered set-up vs. what stock arms can achieve. The cost is in the R&D, materials, & contruction.

If you opt for a 'swapmember' (aftermarket x-member), you'll want manifolds if the motor is stock-ish (log or ram horn style will work). If it's got a little more gitty-up, mid-length headers are the most common choice. Since aftermarket x-members typically raise the engine mounting height & shift it's position forward slightly, long tube headers could possibly fit (you won't know until you check).
