Speaking of teflon tape....I recently had to replace my water heater. I was unaware that there was three different teflon tapes....white for cold water, blue for hot water and yellow for gasses.

So, I'd guess that using teflon would mean using the right teflon.

Makes the Permatex seem like the best route, to me.

Re: water leaking thru intake bolts at top

If you've got a coolant leak at the intake - it's not the intake bolts.

Did you recently R&R the intake?

Re: water leaking thru intake bolts at top

I 've had this issue before and just pulled the bolts that had coolant at them and put silicone on the threads and it fixed the problem . seems the coolant works its way up the threads. this is what I would try first before an intake gasket. good luck

Had the same thing happen. This fixed the problem right up.

Re: water leaking thru intake bolts at top

well......did the shelac thing..it seemed to work, but still leaking a tiny bit on the further fron bolt..did notice some orange silicone gasket sealer on front of intake, PO mustve done this before, so just decided that we're gonna do an intake gasket to cure the problem.
