Well, there are lots of places to put speakers. Do you still have the in-cab gas tank? How do you feel about cutting the doors? Are you going for sound quality or just plain loudness? What kind of music do you listen to? What is your budget? Answering these questions will help us send you in the right direction....

BigBlack68, if you've still got your gas tank, you can forget about installing those 15's. Even w/out the in-cab gas tank, you would be hurting for leg room/enclosure size w/2-15's. I've seen it done, but it would be over-kill for your 61/2's. Since you have 15's, I guess you like bass. So why not sell the 15's, buy two 10's and a very powerful, quality amplifier. Put the 10's under the seat in a proper enclosure. With enough clean power, they will rock.
You can then put the Pioneers in the doors or kickpanels. There are some kickpanels you can buy w/cheap 61/2's already in them. Better yet, get your local car stereo shop to build some custom kick panel pods angled toward your listening position. You might even consider some 61/2" component speakers if you have the cash. You'll be glad you spent the $$$!! I may be overcomplicating things for you, if I am, let me know and I'll try to explain things better....

Kicker separates in the door panels, crossovers on kickpanels. Free-air 10 in open back box, Crossfire 100x4 amp, and not pictured, 6 disc changer under drivers side.

I can't find the pics of my stereo right now but I will post when and if I find them. I ran two Cerwin Vega 10s behind the seat. They take alot of air space, but deliver alot of bass. I ran a CV 6.5" mid and a Pioneer tweeter in the lower kick panels. I mounted the amps and crossover under the seat.

When I has my CD player in the dash I usde the mounting tray and some plumbers tape for the back as a hanger. My truck is lowered and at the time it had leafs which made it ride like a tank. I purposely tried to skip the CD and could not.

Just use a sawzall. You can rent them for cheap....

Sawzall is a bit overkill... I taped up my dash with masking tape, then marked the opening on the tape and cut using a jigsaw. Much easier to control the jigsaw than a sawzall. The tape keeps from scratching the paint or chipping the edges. Works well. Be darn sure you don't cut the hole too big. I cut mine slightly small and opened it up with a file. I suspended the back of the head unit with the strap that comes with the new stereo (You know, the one everyone throws away!) and the stock lug.

I made a center console to house a 10" sub along with the amp. It also has a little area for junk. I obviously have bucket seats too. The way this console is designed thouh, I can still have a 3rd passenger (though they're not real cumfy)
I'm now in the process of building a new center console that will also house the sub and amp, but it will be a little more "show" and will enclose the floor shifter, peopl won't be able to sit on it, and it won't have a junk holder. |

Mike C., I was joking about the sawzall. Sorry I didn't make my sarcasm apparent enough! Yeah, go w/the jigsaw!
