you voted, here they are (wheels)
Awhile back, posted this thread (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=414583)
looking for folks' thoughts on wheel color choice. Heart was set on steelies and blackwalls, but was torn between white, black, and blue. So, just like the Blog Cabin, you voted, and here they are - white won by a long shot. Good choice (but I'm partial). Thanks for your help! Of course new wheels meant a wax job was in order, that's why she's all shiny... For reference - rims are stock 15x5.5 (powder coated white), tires are primewell 235/75/15. Caps are mid-70's half-ton. Last edited by jocko; 09-23-2010 at 02:31 PM. |

Clean, Classic Factory look. Nice job. I would have picked white too for your truck.

Re: you voted, here they are (wheels)
thanks folks, appreciate the kind words! and appreciate your votes! Did anyone notice the killer guard dog in the third picture? I pulled the truck into the back yard and he came out and immediately took up his post (on the shady side of course). Good dog.
Thanks again. jocko Last edited by jocko; 09-23-2010 at 05:33 PM. |

Re: you voted, here they are (wheels)
have you tried period correct hubcaps? I like the white but the hubcaps remind me of a mid 70's truck...
very nice truck and overall look though!

Re: you voted, here they are (wheels)
Turned out really nice jocko . I am partial to the blue /white paint .
I need to make a poster of your truck to hang up in the shop so there is a visual goal to keep me working toward!! And that is a good dog! bubba

Re: you voted, here they are (wheels)
thanks guys - i know the 70's caps aren't exactly the most popular(!) but for some reason I like them on here - I don't necessarily want the truck to look restored, per se, that's one reason for the white wheels and these caps (for now). The current caps were pretty cheap and are tentative placeholders for some old vette/impala poverty caps or early 60's bel air dog dishes - prefer used but may save up and buy the bel air caps re-popped (can't find the vette/imp caps anywhere).
Future plans call for no exterior changes (although I am re-painting my stock rally wheels the original silver, may put those on if get disk brakes) other than removing the bed rails someday. Can't now because the paint comes off with them! But someday. Next projects, my focus will be in the driveline - and driveability. Body's pretty good to go and the interior is even more stock looking than when I bought it, which I like. Have added a few unseen things like the little parking brake indicator, etc, and the factory tach - but other things will be subdued. As for the driveline - i am planning on a Tremec, and possibly a rear gear swap (but that's a much further in the future thing - the trans will give the biggest improvements - current gearing set-up really sucks for highway use) and for the engine, some early sixties hot rod stuff. Have an old Offy dual quad set-up, but if I win the lottery, planning on maybe a mid-60's vette fuelie unit on top. Not exactly easy to tune or fun to drive, but MAN they are cool! Who knows. TBD if I will lower it, am truly torn on that idea - but if I do it will be a mild drop. Anyway, getting ready to pack up and move to CA in a few more months, probably mid-winter, so all this stuff has to be on hold til I settle in. Gotta be able to drive it onto the trailer for the long drag west! Thanks again, really appreciate the comments, this forum is great and thanks for the inspiration in your trucks - I've seen some really talented mechs and painters on this site, and have gotten lots of ideas from you all. jocko |
