oil filter question
I am having trouble finding fram oil filters in my local Wal Mart and wanted to ask a question about oil filters. The one I have on my 72 350 now is a fram ph30, I tried to look it up in the book at Wal Mart but it does not go back that far.
Which oil filter is to be used on the 350 and which brands do you suggest? (I read an article that the Wal Mart brand was as good as any out there??) The length or height of the oil filter does that casue the amount of oil to increse if it is longer. the ph30 is shorter then most?

Re: oil filter question
I wouldn't use Fram. I use the Napa Gold, made by Wix. I have seen 2 engine failures caused by cheap fram filters. There not what they used to be.

Re: oil filter question
I agree. I have used nothing but the AC Delco PF1218 in my '92 K-3500 with a 454 since I can remember and so far it has worked out great. The truck just turned 100,000 miles.
Wixs filters are good also, but a little more expensive.

Re: oil filter question
I gave up the Fram line a long time ago, due to the fact that their supposed warranty is basically BS. I went to the NAPA line of "GOLD" oil iflters. They are made by WIX and carries the backing of a great company. I wait until NAPA is running a sale for the season and I get my filters at about 1/2 price and I buy a case or the amount that I would need for whiheever vehicle that I have, to get me through the year. It is the filter line that I used at the County Highway Department Maintenance shop that I used to work at and also the engine builder that worked my 383 stroker engine recommended.
