Undecided...

So Im thinking my next big change will be to a set of billet wheels. Hopefully the wife will let me spend some of the tax return to replace the old shoes and go with some new ones. My problem is I can decide on just how big to run. I plan on narrowing my rear end, as well as I ran all of my 4 link inside my frame rails specifically so I could run some wide wheels. Now to my delimma... I want to run 20s up front.... do I run 22x12s in the rear with about a 7 inch lip, or do I run 20x15s with about an 11 inch lip in the rear?

I LOVE the look of a real nasty wide wheel in the back with a huge lip, but I dont know how silly it may look with only a mild built small block under the hood if I do run the 20x15s.

Oh, and this will be on a 67 that is already laying full frame, with the notch built to lay out on about a 30 inch diamater tire. Any opinions?

Re: Undecided...

I love the look of the 20x15's, but I don't know if they'll fit with the stock frame rails...have you measured? Also, will the tires for them still allow you to lay frame?

I think considering the 2 factors above, 22x12's with a very small backspacing will provide you with the same look you are going for at possibly a smaller cost while still being able to lay...

Re: Undecided...

I need to measure it when I get home. Has no one else ran the 20x15s on a 67-72? I know there are some prostreet guys that can help a little, although most of them arent dropped as low as mine. Anyone else?

Why not go with a slightly narrower 20" wheel? Either way I'm sure it will look great. Have any pictures of your truck?

Re: Undecided...

The only reason i would go with a 22x12 is because i cant find a wheel or tire I can afford that is a 22x15 lol

I would only run the 20x15 because I can run the Mickey Thompson Sportman S/R 29X18.00R20LT tires in the back, and have an 11 inch lip on some billet wheel. Basically a modern prostreet setup. The tires are 29 inches tall, same as an adverage 22 inch tire. I set up my notch in my frame to tuck a 30 or so inch tire, so either setup will work (if I can actually squeeze in an 18 inch wide tire and still lay out lol) My concern if can tuck the 20x15s is that it will just seem absurb without a big ass motor under the hood.

Just so you can see what Im working with, heres a picture of the truck right now as it sits. Sorry about the glare from the sun, it was a really bright day when this was shot.

Oh my, that truck is beautiful! Saved the picture to my hard drive. Pretty sure whatever you go with will look great on there.

Re: Undecided...

Thanks guys. I appriciate it. I did some quick measuring, and I dont see how I can get that tire under there without it rubbing, or being just too damn close. However Mickey Thompson makes a 29X15.00R20LT in that same tire....still 29 inches tall, but only 15 inches wide instead of 18. Its made for a 13-14 inch wide wheel. So no 20x15, but a 20x14 would run. Thoughts? Or should I just go with a 22x12?

Re: Undecided...

20x14 sounds mighty nice, I would roll with that.

Re: Undecided...

My that thing is so nice...I'm a fan of bigger if it'll fit, so my vote is for 22's.
