Re: Score at pick n pull, now need help.

Was looking at this again...Maybe it will bring me luck in finding one at the yards this weekend.

Of course, it would be even better if i could find one of the clusters with tach and electric speedo.....

You can take a non-tach housing and put a tach in it. I had a bunch of tach clusters and one time, IIRC one was busted to hell, I took the guts out and put in an easy to find non-tach housing. You do need to cut a small hole in the back for the tach leads to go thru, but that's aboot it.

What'd you do where the little gas gauge mounts? Most are just empty hole areas with no mounting tabs, unless it had a clock in it.

The area behind the tach is different than a non-tach cluster. He could cut it out and epoxy it into another good housing and transfer the printed circuit board. Similar to what BLE 'BURBAN did with his.

Just can't be a housing that came with a clock as they were different in the lower left corner.

The clock area has a different design to it with holes for the clock wiring so no other gauge will fit there due to the lack of spring clip mount area.

A standard housing with nothing in the lower left can be modified to hold a gauge by just epoxying a 3/8" nylon rod into the housing where you need a gauge mount point.

Re: Score at pick n pull, now need help.

Guy said it is new in box ACDelco part. These are the ebay pics. The tach area looks different, but I guess we'll see what happens. I got the part cheaper than what I paid for the used tach.

got the new tach housing in, and it is as advertised! Brand new ACD part! Now I need to see how my 86 speedo will fit, or if it will.

That housing has the hole for the optical VSS lead. Your 86 speedo will fit just fine.
