Future intentions for the C-10...Thoughts??

Hey everyone, im in the process of putting together my engine combo for my restore of my 70. here are the links to the parts im considering. What do yall think? Also, where can i pick up a fleet side SWB?? i have a stepper right now but, Ive always loved the streamlined look of the fleet. finally, should i just beef up the TH350 i have currently or upgrade? Now all of this wont take place until i get back from the middle east next year so i have plenty of time to get things together.

side note: Please feel free to put your comments in, such as what will/wont work, thoughts on carb setup, ect ect. Any opinions are highly encouraged. Thanks everyone.

Honestly if I were you I'd be doing as much reading on line and books on all the new gen 3 engines. I know for a fact I can build a much more powerful engine out of a stock 6L 364 ci engine from a reputable salvage yard, (note I didn't say a junk yard), for about the same as what your head package or rotating assemble package cost.

A few facts if your not familiar with the gen 3 stuff. Oh and as far as mounts and converter as well as MSD it's all about the same cause you'd need those items anyways with a new engine.

Facts
383 ci old school
4.030 bore
3.75 stroke
23* heads that don't flow for crap
hydrolic flat tappet cam
poor exhaust
poor intake design
life expectancy under 100K miles


6.0 gen 3 (364 ci)
4.0 bore
3.622 stroke
15* heads stock that out flow most great after market 23* heads
great intake design
great exhaust design
life expectancy over 100K
hydrolic roller cams
long rods for very good torque

One last fact nothing other than a cam and valve spring change will take a bone stock 6.0L 9.4-1 comp iron headed 100K + mile engine to 480HP and 464tq.

You can buy a complete new fleetside bed from a few places. Also, I 2nd the idea of going LS engine!

Hey thanks for the replies, do you know off the top of your head which sites i can buy the complete reman bed?? I priced on LMC by piecing one together. Also i thought about the LS swap considering i got the 6.0 in my Goat. But don't know if i want to tackle the amount of wiring i will have to do. Considering this is my first truck restore. But who knows i might sway that way.

If you run that bad boy with a carb all you have to wire is the power and ground on the MSD box and plug in the crank sensor, cam sensor, and coil packs. Everything else is the exact same as a gen 1 install.
