DIY dropmembers and pics?

looking to make my own dropmember I have seen it done a few times, was thinking of using sched 40 4inch pipe with bracing, what are you guys runing, I can't afford CPP or porterbuilt right now butwill do this swap eventually. going 5.5 in the front and 7 in in the rear

Take a look at how Scott's Hot Rods does there crossmembers. They are made from 2x4x1/4 and would be the easiest style to fab. There is a lot to maintaining proper geometry though so don't just jump into it.

makes sense I am a pipeline supervisor though so have some of the best welders in the industry at my disposal all the time, thanks for the info

Thye two main concerns will be the welding/fabricating (which you have covered) and then the suspension/steering geometry.

that's my biggest issue, may just slam it all together without the dropmember, and put the build back a little if i have to, for the drop I'm running, a mild dropmember is all I'll need, have to shim the rear end and then install the dropmember after I get my grand slam installed now, but that's not so bad

remember just cause you own a welder doesnt mean you are a fabricator. not trying to be mean but saftey should be the first thing

good point for sure, but I was getting at that to some degree they're mostly pipe welders, but I have @ that are into serious rock crawling and do some very impressive fabrication, either way though.....probably go with porterbuilt or cpp as I can afford to do so, there is a reason the 67-72 guys stick to these guys for critical parts, and they're visually appealing that counts to me
