T5 speed sensor to cable drive

Has anyone ever coverted a manual trans with speed sensor to cable drive. I got a really good deal on T5 but is has a speed sensor. Is there some kind of conversion that can be done or would I need to change the tailshaft housing and internals?

Have you removed the speed sensor from the transmission yet? If not, please do so and see if it is gear-driven.

I have taken it out and it just had a tone ring for the sensor. I was hoping for a gear driven sensor. I have found adaptors to make cable drive to sensor but not the other way.

Thanks for the link lucifer, I sent them a message,

Re: T5 speed sensor to cable drive

One solution is a CableX motor drive for the speedo. Works good but not cheap. See the thread below.

Re: T5 speed sensor to cable drive

I agree completely about the Cable-X (price). Unless you need to keep a totally stock dash appearance, you can run an aftermarket electic speedo for less than half the cost.
