whats the gauge of metal.
Sometimes we say things we later regret.Usually it's due to speaking out on impulse rather than thinking things through.

Consider my comments enlightenment rather than bashing. These bumpers aren't a simple shape at all.Flat with square bends is basic. These bumpers have rounded, rolled, creased, compound shapes as well as being "v" shaped. If they were simple we could make our own at home or by a local fabricator. But these require drafting, tool & die work (including making them),a hefty slice of steel I don't doubt the same gauge as original,it's a bumper),dressing, buffing, polishing, and plating.Even If I could make this (without stamping in a press) and have it plated,I'd have way more than $300 in it.To hear what that first part costs to produce is stifling.I'd estimate the chroming alone would be at least $300.Figure how many will be sold considering they are a custom touch not desired by all and the market is divided by stock versions as well a roll pans and a multitude of off road 4wd designs. Then there are those who already bought a new bumper.

The rust belt is the rust belt. The best prevention is parking from the first spreading of road salts until after a couple of rains after the last spreading of salt.A pitted bumper is the least of my worries. All chrome should be kept clean and waxed to keep pores sealed.Even once rust starts to show,it can be kept at bay with regular care. But,who takes a customized truck out in the winter crud anyway?Ya live,ya learn.

I'm starting to consider this bumper an option for "Poor Boy".Might have to change the name, though (s'poda be using what I have )
