Lightbulb AC question

I have a old 88 astro van that my inlaws just gave me.......funny part is last year they put $1,300 into revamping the whole AC system including changing over to R134a Refridgerant parts.....my question is would I be able to swap out these parts and use them in my 72 GMC?.....The old AC unit is old and leaks....plus it used R12.

I hope there is a way. My sister has an late 80s Grand Am that has had a new heater/ac put in it not too long ago, really cold air. I want to put it in mine somehow. Wish I knew how to though.
