Another 292 power steering thread

I just spent the last hour looking through every single state and town in craigslist for a 292 with power steering. I was wondering if the newer engines ( from the 80's and the crate motors) were the "integral" heads or "non-integral" heads, or how do you tell those two apart? Anyway here are all of the trucks or engines currently for sale that have power steering on/with their 292's.

- those last two were pretty interesting trucks and the last one would be too nice to part out.

Re: Another 292 power steering thread

It's amazing that you were able to find 11 292s with PS for sale all at the same time.

The 250 brackets won't work. 292 brackets are special because the block is physically taller. I don't think the 292 ever used an integral head. At least none in the ads with engine pics had one. The integral head is quite easy to spot. All the ones I have seen had a very odd looking valve cover. And of course the intake manifold is cast in one piece wiith the head.

Re: Another 292 power steering thread

I think it was amazing I had the patience to search all of craigslist. I guess I didnt really say where I wanted this to go, I want some people to throw out some ideas of how I can get one of those power steering assemblies. Should I buy a truck and part it out? Can I even do that and not loose money? does anyone here in those areas want to buy a new project and not use the 292?
