gas tank ?s

Ive seen guys on this forum that take the gas tank out of the cab and mount one in the bed.... Is there a specific reason why this is done or is it preference?

Re: gas tank ?s

Some don't feel confortable with the gas behind the seat, some don't like the sloshing noise, some want the filler shaved, and some don't like the gas fumes that can sometimes be emitted when the seals are bad. WES

Re: gas tank ?s

You could order a fuel line kit for a burb, id say its close..

Why not just redo it all yourself with line from autoparts store? Probably signifigantly cheaper

lmc or early classic ent. makes a kit for a blazer if you have a short bed or a suburban if you have a long bed.

I can't stand the in cab tank. I want it in the back to clear up some room in the cab. Also hate the filler neck and want it gone.

Re: gas tank ?s

My tank is in the cab AND I have no spare...now how much sense does THAT make? Ha... It was that way when I got it a couple months ago, and a Blazer tank is on order, so it's just a matter of time before it's under the bed. I'm going to run a tonneau cover, so I'll ultimately probably make a spare tire mount to leave in the front of the bed. Not too worried about eating up bed space in a long bed lowered truck, proobbbbably not gonna be my work truck

That's what i was thinking about doing as well, as long as I can keep it horizontal enough to allow the bed cover to clear. And thumbs up on having so much bed left!

Re: gas tank ?s

Unless the thing is a daily driver, I see no need for a spare myself. As for the gas tank, its a preference. On my shortbed I'm moving it to the spare tire location myself since I really am getting tired of the gas smell in the cab.

Re: gas tank ?s

I remember a big deal about 20/20 or 60 minutes getting caught faking gas tank fires in these trucks years ago. I remember seeing footage of the truck sliding on it's side and the pavement was unscrewing the gas cap, other than that I have never heard of anyone getting hurt with the gas tank in the cab. Have there been issues that I haven't heard of?
