I've always kinda thought the short beds did look a little too short, but still like them more than the longbeds (which is what I have) this is an interesting idea, but I think both sides of the bed need to be shortened to keep the wheel well located where it looks good.

I think your going to have a very hard time just cutting a section out of the front of the bed and getting the body lines to line up. Isn't there a slight curve in the body line on the side of the truck. It curves down toward the rear. I think it is because of this body line that you can't just put short sides on a blazer/jimmy. I don't have a long bed so I don't know if the body line is straight in the area you are going to remove, but check it out before you start cutting...

We did more measuring today.......with the foot taken out in front of the wheel well, it will give us exactly 26 inches left on the bottom which is the same length as on the bottom in the rear behind the wheel well......so I'm calling it my "Short, Long, and Even Design"

Hey Bouncytruck.......that's a good point.......however.....it's going to be fine......the guy that is helping me has already taken that into account and we plan on remolding the body lines slightly on both ends to make it match up.......the man can bend metal anyway he wants with a torch......but that's only if we need to.
