Back-half my Truck?
Would it look funny if I did back-half frame rails like this?

Re: Back-half my Truck?
Basically the same as everyone else really. I just want to run a long top bar so I can have a level area to mount my bed floor after I raise it. I plan to run 2x2 accross it and put down a wood floor. Gonna take some work, just I didnt want to have to make spacers to run from the frame to the bed floor. I also didnt want to have to use 2 sets of cross beams like other people do either.

Re: Back-half my Truck?
It won't look funny because you won't see it with the bed on. That would be a good way to do it but add a piece in there to tie it all together on the front side.

Re: Back-half my Truck?
This is kind of what it would look like with the cross rails bolted to it. Sorry I know its crappy, but I didnt want to take forever to make it.

Re: Back-half my Truck?
I was thinking, that if I could get the whole top section to tie together as one piece and make it air tight, then I could use that section of my frame as my air tank.

Re: Back-half my Truck?
I think it sounds like you know what you're doing, and you've got a great plan. Go for it!

Re: Back-half my Truck?
I meant to add a piece to triangulate the structure so it's not all hinging on that one connection point. From the front of your bed mount add a leg going straight down to the angled piece.

Re: Back-half my Truck?
Oooh, yeah. Good plan. Maybe that would be a good place to incorperate a wishbone mounting point and dirve shaft loop also. On a cross beam of course.

Re: Back-half my Truck?
I would like to do a complete frame, but I would get lost in the front geometry.....

Re: Back-half my Truck?
We make a Dropmember that welds into a 2x4 or a 2x3 frame rail. Makes life really easy.

Re: Back-half my Truck?
You have my number... shoot me a call and we can discuss options. I also make a weld-in rail that the dropmember will bolt-up to. Had a couple guys that wanted to be able to unbolt it from their 2x4 chassis and powdercoat it contrasting colors.
