some use RTV sealer and some use cork gaskets like you are thinking. Front is timing cover seal and rear is rear main seal.

If it were me I would spend the extra money and get a one piece pan gasket from fel-pro .

ok, I was, I guess at the time, thinking that the oil pan gasket was about the same as changing tranny pan gasket. Wow, Ive been sick, guess its all gone to my head, lol

I like the one piece gaskets as well. I will assume that the R&R will require you to unbolt the motor mounts, and raise the engine a good bit, and then oil pan should come out. Make sure that everything is clean and dry before going back together.
