Engine size?
Why does my glove box list the engine as a 396, my build sheet as 400cu and it's referred to as a 402 for my '70 GMC 1500 SWB p/u? It's a black(500) truck, is that an unusual color for that yr model?

Re: Engine size?
In 1970, the 396 was bumped up to 402 for any number of reasons, however they kept badging cars and trucks with the 396 because they thought it sold better. The 400cuin on the build sheet is because that's what they referred to the motor as internally, until the 400sbc came around.
...At least that's what I'd always heard.
