Tilt column question

I'm swapping out my 1980 stock column for an 84 Burb one with tilt.
The ignition switch plug is upside down on the 84 compared to the 80. The plug all fit but backwards?

Also I have a 3 speed on the floor and the burb one was column shift auto, can I just leave all the auto stuff on the column in case one day I switch trannies?

Any advice on this swap would be great.

Re: Tilt column question

You are correct on both counts. I would pull the auto shifter handle off, and hang onto it.
