Patched my cab fresh air vents

Made some progress on my cab today. Most would have deemed this cab junk but I was up for the challenge. Front & rear cab supports, front & rear floor pans, pillars, kick panels, cab corners, and soon to be cowl panel, inner roof panel and a roof skin In GA there are no rust free cabs unless you make one

I plan on spot welding it around the drip rails and then welding the seam up in the rear. First I need to weld in the inner roof panel and repair some other rust along the drip rails. I would love to use some panel adhesive and glue it in place but the application gun and crap is expensive as hell!

I was curious because I did the spot welding also. It turned out looking nice, but I seen another build where they used the auto adhesive. It would look better, but I never checked on the price of it all. One thing I would recommend that I overlooked is to pack that thing with sound deadener. I just put a factory piece back in there, but after wards wish, since it was open, I would have covered it all.

Thanks man, I've checked yours out before and it turned out great. I will definitely be packing it with sound deadener while I'm in there. I'm also going to hit it with a couple coats of Epoxy Primer followed by a couple coats of Eastwoods Heavy Duty Anti Rust which is basically body wax. She has a lot of rust issues, once I fix them I don't ever want to think about rust again

Re: Patched my cab fresh air vents

Think about where we are, today, 2010. These trucks (67-72) are from 38-43 years old, model-wise. Go back to '72. A truck (vehicle) the same age as these are today would have been new trucks in 1929 to 1934. I don't know about you, but I graduated from high school in '65, and I can guarantee you I didn't have the foresight to pick up on some of the trucks that I wish I could have had. I did buy a '38 GMC when I was in Tucson, in '70. But, it was only 32 years old and in better shape than the subject truck of this post. My point is this: these trucks aren't getting any younger. If you want one, you need to get it now. Buy the best one you can get, body-wise. If you have talents, as bcutt obviously does, then you have options. If you have the talent, you have trading "material". That is one way to make these trucks more affordable.

But, bcutt, nice work. Really nice work.
