power steering pulley removal
How do you remove the power steering pulley? I need to change to a 2 groove and can't get the old one off.

Re: power steering pulley removal
On newer power steering pumps you need a puller/installer, because the pulley is a press fit on the shaft, but on every 67-72 I've seen, the pulley has a nut holding it on and the shaft has a woodruff key in it. Are you not able to get the nut loose? Once the nut is off they will just pull off by hand.

Re: power steering pulley removal
the nut is off. pulley won't come off, even with persuasion.

Re: power steering pulley removal
It must be rusted/seized on then, because it's not a press fit. But I just double checked a pump I have in the garage and it does have the lip on the center of the pulley that the puller pulls on, I didn't think the older ones did, so a power steering pulley puller should work to pull it off.
