What kind of modeling are you talking about?
Do you just want a static two dimensional rendering of what it could look like, or are you wanting to make a full 3D representation? If you just want a drawing, I suggest some Prismacolors and experimentation. If you want free software for photo manipulation and painting, then The GIMP might be for you. If you want a steep learning curve then welcome to the world of 3D modeling.
