Re: striaght 6 DD reliablity

1972 Pontiac Ventura my first car (at 16)had a straight 250.
couldn't kill it,but sure tried
pedal to the metal doughnuts in parking lots(dumb)
lol one time we put it up to a wall,
did a one wheel wonder smoke show(beats lifting up the ass end)
rad blew another time ,over heated
but the tranny went first
drove it backwards two weeks with a dead tranny
till i got pulled over by police, they pulled up behind me,
means they were facing us lol we waved hello,
they put the roof lights on and walked up to the car .......
they called my parents to pick us up,and towed the car away

Agreed on Leo's book. We have a turbo charged 250 we were running in a 92 Camaro until it finally blew a head gasket (at 20psi). Pulled it out and now im looking for a truck to put it in.

If you're not going to worry about the looks of the truck, run up to Corinth and see if Mike's junkyard has any shortbed trucks.

Re: striaght 6 DD reliablity

I agree that place is pretty shady, I don't go there much myself. If I need a salvage part I usually head over to Frankfort to L&M Salvage. They used to have acres (literally) of old 4x4 GM and Ford trucks. When scrap got high a couple years ago he crushed alot of stuff, but alot of those trucks had been there for years and were pretty well picked clean. I was last there back in the spring I think.

Ah it's kinda hit and miss. I think the last thing I got there was a power steering pump with the mounting bracket for $45, and they pulled it.
