70 suburban lowering questions
So iv got a 70 gmc suburban that I want to lower and do some custom stuff to as it sits it has 6 lug drum breaks and is all stock, I have a complete frame from a 72 chevy pick up that is 5 lug disk break setup. I don't however have the break lines from the pickup so I'm wondering what all I need to get to do the swap? I also have 1 inch lowering coils for the front end but I'm not sure how to lower the back with what I have of if it is possible ? Any ideas without spending tons of cash ?

Re: 70 suburban lowering questions
a auspention swap is pretty easy to do in your situation if you have the space and time to do it. Brake lines are easy to do. Cheap it you are willing to bend them yourself, and not so cheap if you want prebent.
The rear is easy to lower with lowering blocks or lowering springs. |

Re: 70 suburban lowering questions
Is there anyway to lower the rear without buying lowering coils? I just don't have the cash for then at the moment. And do I have to replace all the front break lines or just add a few ? Cause I know I need a different proportioning block deal right?

Re: 70 suburban lowering questions
Your suburban is basically the same as lowering a pickup.
You could put a 1.5" lowering block in the rear,... but coils are the way to go. You like alot of us want to do things but don't have the cash. The problem is,... we are talking about your brakes. Don't cut corners. 1) You could get your suburban converted over to 5 lug. 2) Then get the brakes working. 3) lower it. Take your time and do it right! You are going to spend alot of money just converting to disk brakes, replumbing the brake lines, swapping the Master Cylinder and prop valve. You can do it,... it's just going to take time and money.

Re: 70 suburban lowering questions
I already have everything to do the 5 lug conversion iv been slowly getting all the parts over the last year new bushing bolts ECT... And I even came across some chromed spindles and backing plates for a deal I could not pass up. Now I'm down to break lines. But I figured if im taking the spindles off now I should just put the new lowering coils in at the same time up front.
