Front diff
I am putting a 75 Dana 44 axle under my 70 K10 truck. I am stripping it down because I want to get it powder coated. I have the bearing caps off and I am stuck I cant figure out where to go next. I thought it was like the rear with the C-clips. Can anyone describe what to do next?

Have you pulled the spindles off? Then you can just pull the axles out. Have you pulled the pinion out yet?

I didnt realize that the axles just pop out, I have never taken apart a front axle before. I was looking for the c-clips or something like that.
Thanks Tim

Bearing caps??? Do you mean the hubs? Did you take the rotors and calipers off? The spindles are next. Then like JIMs70GMC said, you can pull the axles.

Yep, once you get the hubs off then the spindle/backing plate comes off then the axles come right out. Good time to check the ball joints also or just replace them.

I am replacing pretty much everything. It has been sitting for quite a few years, and I only want to do it once.

The Dana 44 carrier is a tight fit in the diff housing. Get two prybars and some towels for it to drop onto in case you don't catch it. My experience is that it doesn't want to budge a millimeter and then it just pops out - heavily.
