Re: ANYONE running 305/40/22 tires
I am running them all the way around on the stock suspension, but i really would like to do a 3/5 drop.
Im not having any rubbing issues but was curious if anyone is running them up front with a drop. |

Re: ANYONE running 305/40/22 tires
My friend is running a 265/40/22 all around, we did a 3/3 drop to close up the gaps above the wheels. A 305/40/22 is only an inch taller, but I know at full lock hes about an inch away from hitting the fender. I think it might be to close, might have to do about a 2/4 drop.

Re: ANYONE running 305/40/22 tires
i cant remember if the liner is rubber or metal, but i did have a set of 22s on a tahoe and i heated and reshaped the liner. it was a rubber liner though.
thanks for the replies!!! |

Re: ANYONE running 305/40/22 tires
most likely that would be a must, and also might have to trim the inside of the fender where all the structual part is. as if you were baggin it out. but hell, might as well then a

Re: ANYONE running 305/40/22 tires
They are metal, You could do the same thing. Maybe heat the metal and hit it with an air hammer, there is plenty of room to make the inner fenders bigger. Another thing is, the 73-80 inner fenders are taller then the 81-87 inner fenders. Dont know what year you have but might be something you want to check into if you want fenders.

Re: ANYONE running 305/40/22 tires
Without knowing the backspacing of his wheels its hard to say, he could have a 22x9.5 with a 6" backspace. He could take out his inner fenders and wouldnt have to trim anything extra at all.

Re: ANYONE running 305/40/22 tires
true, i think that would result in the wagon-wheel look being all in tho, and tho cool and a must on alot of bagged trucks, personally never liked that look. once it was at ride height. just looks funny. i guess it does depend on the wheel tho, a few inches of lip go a long way visually

My wife bought the truck for me for Christmas. i love my wife! the rims are mb smooth rims, they are discontinued and they only make them in a 20". i bought them a while back for my 92 but sold the project. this truck is a 86. not sure of the backspacing i was too excited when i got the truck and i put them on before measuring. i'll check them out tomorrow.
thanks for the info guys. |
