Re: Cowl or not
That grille would take no more than 15 minutes to swap out. They fit all 81-87 models if I recall correctly.

Re: Cowl or not
^^ true, but your grille is different since you have a single headlamp truck and the suburban looks to be a dual or quad headlamp truck

Re: Cowl or not
I have driven several vehicles with hood scoops. On a car, they can interfere with your view of the road. I doubt if it would happen on a square. That Oldsmobile cruiser is really sharp, congrats on keeping a classic on the road and really good looking. As long as you're painting, find another stock hood cheap, and paint both the scooper and the stocker at the same time so you can swap them any time you want. I know, easier said than done, LOL.

Re: Cowl or not
Nbpro- I think he's talking about my truck. Mine is just a single lamp. My bottom lights are turn/park lights. Your turn/park lights are in the bumper.
I can make my grille work on her suburban, thats not the issue. I just want to know if the suburbans grille will fit on my truck without extreme modification. Posted via Mobile Device

If it was functional, it would be a different story, but otherwise it is just a poser look. Same as the big ricer mufflers that kids put on. The look implies performance, which nine times out of ten is not there. Hope that helps you understand my perspective. Regardless, it is a good trade as a re-sale item given the circumstances the OP gave.

Re: Cowl or not
How would you go about attaching the stock behind grill trun signals to my stock grille?

Re: Cowl or not
I have never seen a cowl hood on a square body that looked "right" to me...
They all look like something bought at Pep Boysm but thats just me. I know lots of folks love them!

Leave the grille, those billet grilles are ugly

Re: Cowl or not
Now I'm sure this is your opinion, because a lot of people like the billet grilles. Me for one. I think they look a lot better than the plastic stock grille that was on the truck to begin with, and that's my opinion.

Re: Cowl or not
I'm just not a fan of cowl hoods, It adds lines that dont match my truck IMO... It came with the truck and i have a nice straight hood I found on craigslist, I will be primering my truck soon so the cowl is coming off.

Re: Cowl or not
have to agree. i dont really care for the full phantom grille. between the lights looks ok but my favorite so far is the stock one. but thats just my opinion. everyones different. and as far as the hood, i love the looks. i put one on my mustang and it didnt make it a ricer. it was functional, and i needed the extra 4 inches for the motor to clear. i like cowl hoods, function-able or not.
