Question alternator sound

i recently installed a serpintine set up on my 67 the donor was a 95 suburban. the new alt has one wire that plugs in and one big wire that went to the battery. i figured the plug in wire was the exiter wire so i hooked it up to switched 12 v. the alt is charging fine but when the key is off and the truck is not running you can hear a faint squeel or eeeeeeeeeeeeee..lol i have been disconecting the battery scince i heard this because i figure it cant be goo. why would the alt make noise??

You are probably cooking the regulator....

ohh is that all?

i guess i wanted to know if the one wire plug on the 95 alt was suposed to be a 12v switched power or not. i unplugged the one wire plug and it is still squeeling. so i guess its fried but before i buy a new one i wanted to make sure what the power going to the alt was suposed to be so i dont fry another one....

Is it a CS series alt? If so it should have 4 wires from the regulator and a single battery lead. Let me find a previous post that has the wiring diagrams... there is actually 2 different ways of wiring this up....
