Extra Engine

Hey all, a neighbor of mine has a c20 just like mine but in better condition. A couple of months ago his engine seized up and he had to park it. He got another 350 block in it and decided to give me the old block. I took it because I want to learn how to dismantle it and learn all the inner workings first hand, without destroying my own 350 block. I was just wondering what kind of info I could figure out from the numbers on the block. Any input helps.

Here's what's stamped on the block:
GM 3970010
15k106215
v1018crx

Intake manifold:
3927183

In between the valve springs:
333882

So my plan is to just take it all apart and eventually sell it or get it machined and sell it. Is this engine common?

Re: Extra Engine

the 3970010 block is the high nickel one used in Corvettes, trucks, and boat engines. Good block, usually but not always 4 bolt.
