Air pump removal?

I'm replacing my drive belts and was thinking about just leaving off the air pump belt for now and maybe removing the pump later. The question is that I have TBI, so will removing the belt for the air pump hurt the engine or performance? I'm not really worried about emissions right now. Will it hurrt cold start-ups? Anyone doen this on an 87 TBI and not have any computer problems? Thanks!

Also. I took the top part of the fan shroud off. It was held together ( to the bottam half of the shroud) by a couple of big staples. They look factory, but I was wondering if you guys have a better way to attach them together.

removing the AIR pump shouldnt create any problems, unless they have to do with the O2 sensor in your exhaust. i removed mine from my '86 with absolutely no change in the way it ran. all the system does is injects air into the exhaust to make the emissions seem less than they actually are. i've also heard that it helps to cool the cat converter, but if you've already ditched that, which 90% of people haev, you shouldnt have problems to my knowledge.

on another note, i removed the cat from my 93. it causes the SES light to come on. i've been told that this is due to the O2 sensor not getting into the proper heat range, which is caused by the missing restriction of the converter. wiring in a heated O2 sensor should take care of that.

just left the belt off. I ran out of daylight so I'll look at it again later.
