may be the ground on the tank? because the pink sending unit wire is connected.

a trick i did i high school was a switch under the dash shorted the lead to ground and it would show an empty tank.......no one wanted to help cover gas lol no drive home undone/loose/disconnected it would go pegged past full,thats why i think it must be a break
