Classic Industries dash pad

I know i have seen a couple threads on whether to replace or repair the dash pad before. I have seen what Stitch can do with a dash, and that looks great, and I have seen some repop dash pads that look like poooo!!! Also I have seen the abs dash covers that dont fit as well either. That being said i had a customer bring me a new dash pad from Classic Industries to put in his truck since I was putting speakers in. The shipping packaging was great, it had a piece of wood screwed to to the dash pad to keep the diver side opening straight. The color was nice, it was blue, and just a bit darker than the doors, probably cuz the doors were faded. The fit was great, although I did have to remove the speaker brackets and mount the speakers directly to the dash. What I like the most was how well it fit around the cluster. All the other repops I have seen always sag, and this one was nice and straight. I did manage to get a couple pics, but none of the driver side. At 180 or 190 bucks I think its a pretty good deal. He was also looking at LMC, but that one was twice the money and only came in black. Being able to get them in the right color from Classic is nice.

Bought one of these, are they factory perfect.... no, but they are alot better than a cracked crappy dash. Blue is a hard color to match, apparently UV is rough on them and the available interior colors are not spot on.

On the AC vents, they clean well and I used some black felt stickies like you put on chair legs to cut out the flopping. A silver paint pen can tough up the highlights.

Good look jmac. How off of a fit do those dash pads really have? Blue is hard to match your right about that my lmc door panels are a completely different color than anything else.

Wonder who Classic Industries uses as a supplier for these? Same as others (LMC) who sell the same end result or are there many who produce this product?

Looks good! Price is reasonable too. A lot nicer than the cracked dash in my 1-ton. This is tempting to add to my current pile of parts waiting for warmer weather to install!

the fit isnt too far off, there was a little trimming on the passenger side, were it meets the a piller, and along the windshield it is a bit wavy. I think that will smooth aout after the sun warms it up a little.

Piece of cake to install. take the old dash off and remove the retainer clips. Put clips on new dash, and reinstall.

I cant imagine its from the same people as lmc. lmc only offers in black and they want 400 for theirs.

wish mine were as easy as your saying it is ,cant get the clips to clip,and mines from classic indusries as well was it hard to get tje clips on?

The clips are kinda tricky to remove/replace. You have to pry the retainer clip up and turn the clip 1/4 turn to release it from the dash. to install in into the new dash insert the little prong (about 1/4 inch) into the slot on the new pad and turn 1/4 turn to lock it into place. I hope this helps, its hard to explain without some pics, so if you post a pic of your underdash (or if someoe else has a pic) and i may be able to clear some stuff up.

The clips are aggravating. The trimming is scary, I took mine in and out 3 times at least. The area around the defrost vents will not be perfect, won't improve or get worse. The only thing I need to do with mine is to correct a poor dash speaker install, got in a hurry.

Good thread and excellent pictures. Do the Classic Industries pads have a metal backing like the ones from Brothers? How many clips do you need as I am sure mine will be missing some or will be broken? Urethane vs Vinyl - which is better? Classic Industries wants $199. Brothers wants 289 for the urethane and 299 for the vinyl. Looking for the best product not the cheapest as I figure this will be the last dash pad I get. Just don't want to be stupid and spend more than I have to. My truck will not be a "show" truck. Just hate looking at the cracked dash and hole over the speaker.

I am curious, is this the rubbery dash that has the wood holding the cluster area straight? If so, this is Dashes Direct, they make a vinyl skinned version of these also. I don't know of any other company making aftermarket replacements for these.

Thats it, Dashes Direct...... had forgot, I ot mine straight from there. When I bought mine, they were getting flamed on here. I installed mine, perfect, no. Afraid to park in the daylight, no....... most civilians cannot tell a difference, but it is not a GM dash.
