Don't give up looking for those trucks Randy, there's still a few parts I'm going to need from you.

But I agree, $195 is getting up there!

Metal here is $13.25 per hundred. That is $265 a ton! It is ridiculous. People are scrapping everything.

Re: Scrap is $195 a ton here no wonder I can't find any trucks

It's $485 a ton at the port of LA in 1/4" or larger and preped into 5' or less lengths. a full end dump is $20k. People are scraping any thing that is not bolted down. The sad part about it is China is buying it all and will be setting on it and sell it back to us at premium!! The USA needs to start manufacturing in this country agian or were done!!! (sorry for the raint)

Trucks don't last long in the yards here. Pull what you need, cause they get scrapped FAST.

Re: Scrap is $195 a ton here no wonder I can't find any trucks

Seems like "I can get more scrapping it" is becoming a pretty popular phrase in ads now. Seen it a number of times in the last month or so. I noticed some old tin showing up in the local yard too. Mustangs, 55 Chevy, some type of 30s or 40s truck. Its getting ugly.

Re: Scrap is $195 a ton here no wonder I can't find any trucks

You guys are lucky...I've noticed this when talking to a few American's down south.

I'm going down to buy trucks and everybody is saying the scrapper will pay them $500 for a vehicles worth $300 to us builders. Up here we'd get maybe $200 I think for a load. I scap metal and vehicles all the time and never seen a pay out like you guys get.

It's too bad cause all these old vehicles are getting scrapped now just for the money.

Re: Scrap is $195 a ton here no wonder I can't find any trucks

I have no problem paying scrap prices for a truck but I hate it when they say $700 or its getting scrapped. Well it may be worth $700 as a parts truck so then just say $700 and thats fine. Its when they reference the scrap price that their argument is invalid. A c10 scrap value at 200/ton is $400 and you have to haul it in. If scrap value was $700 than it would be a sound argument.

I guess the takeaway is that parts trucks will be more expensive and parts in turn will go up.
