Questions
I just went to my local junkyard and asked if they had any 350's. They had one. It was out of the car it came from and it ran (supposedly). It had Edelbrock valve covers, Edelbrock carb and the guy said it sounded like a big cam in it but he wasn't sure. When I asked for the price he said $900. Ouch! I can get a remanufactured 396 for $960. Does that seem a little high?
How much does the price go down on a truck when the engine numbers aren't matching with the truck? I want to get a remanufactured engine but my dad is stuck on keeping the numbers matching. Is it a good idea? |

I sell rebuildable small blocks for $100 - $200 when I get them.
#;s matching means nothing in terms of value on these trucks unless it's a super low mileage, high optioned truck. That being said, when I look for a truck, I'll always choose the one that has been kept closest to original, all other things being equal. A highly modified truck will have value only to it's owner/creator whereas a stock original will have broader appeal.

you need a new junk yard, and personally, i would not buy a motor fro a junk yard that you could not hear run on the spot. |

In our area, good running 350's will go from $250 to $500, (complete engines). Rebuildable blocks will go from $50, (2 bolt)
to $150 (4 bolt). Jim |

most i ever paid for a junkyard motor is $350 and the one i got last was the 4.3 and was a recent factory crate motor. ive gotten 350s for as little as $200 tho therye plentiful
