You can still buy trucks today off the dealer lot with a plow. Its a dealer installed option and always has been as far as i know.

Plows were always dealer installed.
The truck dealer is also a dealer for Meyer, Fisher, ... plows. The plow manufacturers probably have a list of minimum options that must be present to install each plow. This "minimum equipment" list would include HD front springs and HD brakes and 3/4 ton or 1 ton for the larger plows.

The 70s were a different time. Individual options like HD cooling, extra leafs in the front springs and HD brakes could be ordered as line items on your build sheet. Unlike today where you get a car or truck with 4-5 packages and that's it...

Re: Snow people i need ur help please

I believe it was a dealer option, at least my old paperwork says so.
"Special" options only if needed or ordered. I don't believe anything on my K-20 wasn't normal, it may have HD cooling, I don't remember. I don't remember any of the parts guys asking about the plow, unless they were personally interested.

MANY snowplows were also hung on the 1/2 tons also.

Re: Snow people i need ur help please

Usually the trucks with plows had extra items that were optional for all trucks.. like a trans cooler, larger radiator, the larger brakes, heavy duty battery and towing package .. stuff like that.. they may have had things like "Big Ten" with plows and even the sales brochures would have pics of the truck outfitted with a plow in some areas...but as far as i ever knew and as been said before its all dealer items for the plow itself
