Well, I've done it.....
I need to stay away from here!!!!!
Hadn't really had much interest in the last few years in my 81 2wd 1/2T that I've owned since 85. Well, after being on here for the last few days (can't work due to rain and wet ground) I was out there doing body work on it all day. Guess I'll go ahead and paint it. (Haven't painted a vehicle in 10 years) Truck has been lowered 5", frame off, for about 2 years (92-94) new front cap, cowl hood, etc, etc. Truck was lowered in 86, before dropped spindles (that I knew about anyways) so I had TrailMaster make me some 5" dropped front coils, and to correct caster, I cut out the ball joints and moved them in 5/8". Rear flip is made from 2" flat bar that took about 2 days to get the proper driveshaft angle. (I don't know if they made the 'pinion wedges' back then or not) Well, I hold all of you responsible (or I'm gonna tell the wife ya'll made me do it!!!) Thanks for resparking the interest. Virgil |

You can't blame it on us!!
We are not gonna feed you if your kitchen pass gets revoked!! You might want to throw a old mattress in the back so you will have a place to lay your head! Good luck on the truck, Mike |

Virgil, It had also been a while since i painted anything real. i need to set this garage up for better ventilation, but one thing that really helped was buying a modern gravity fed HVLP gun that really puts the paint on the item and not in the air. saves on expensive materials also. I have so much paint & hardeners lying around i need to just start painting stuff with this for the practice. ( HVLP's are UNforgiving if set wrong). I bought a Sharpe Cobalt series off ebay for 1/3 rd of a SATA brand. I did OK on my first real item because i practiced on the junk parts blazer first. It came out a little more textured than i like because i was being stingy on the paint after putting all kinds of runs in the 'test' blazer. Boy i sure hate to see those good Gold series Binks siphon fed guns of mine sitting there saying "remember us and how good we were together" . I only wish now that they were a modern miracle to make my body work better :-( , LOL , DAVE
