how much rpm can a cast eagle cast crank handle?

i got an eagle cast crank for free. i wanted to throw it in a street/strip engine. nothing hardcore.

i have a forged crank in the c10. i dont know much about cast cranks, are they a waste of time? the motor is gonna be n/a, no turbo nitrous or super charge with about 10.5 compression. its gonna be for my lifted k10 we just picked up. i am planning on giving it some abuse. it is gonna be in a mud truck which will prolly see some higher rpms.

what are your opinions?

Use it you won't have any problems,my machinist uses cast cranks in the big blown motors an says they work better than forged, and he builds the big ones.

Re: how much rpm can a cast eagle cast crank handle?

Cast and nodular iron is more 'forgioving' than a hard forged crank. Detonation wants to crack a journal out of a hard crank,, cast will 'flex' and survive.
That said, I used to repeatedly take a cast GM 350 crank to 7500 with heavy old TRWL2304f pistons, and a 250HP shot of nitrous. Riciprocating can be hard with RPMs, so a good balance job is a necessity.

In fact. not that I think about it, 10 yeats later that motor is still running with nothing but fresh rings and bearings.

I had a nasty little 355 with a gm iron crank in it. It regularly saw 7000rpm and never had an issue. Balancing is key with making any rotating assembly survive.
