under hood start

Is there a way to start an engine from the engine compartment? I have a few issues that require me to watch the engine while starting it. Is this something I can buy from an autoparts store, or is it something I can put together myself?

Re: under hood start

I just used mine this past Sunday to spin the electric starter I installed on my previously pull start only 1987 Evinrude 25hp.

For a while i had it permanently installed on my 1971 Monte Carlo. The "On" part of the ignition switch worked but the "Start" position was hit or miss. I simply turned the ignition on, hit the button, and I was off to the races.

Everybody should have one in their toolbox.

Re: under hood start

You will still need to put power to the coil to make it run...

Re: under hood start

I bought one at a local parts store for less than $15 last year. A lot handier than the old screw driver trick.

If you use the remote start make sure it is in park if an automatic or neutral if a manual.
