cut out dash to access windshield frame to weld in new one, plus the radio hole was hacked.

Yup I got a donor that needs some work first.
I figure the best way to do it is to weld beneath the post, in the area that the cowl cover would cover it. |

I have realized that a Blazer/Jimmy could be built out of almost any SWB metal box floor truck. All that is need is the roof section and the front of the bed floor section from a donor truck. Of course the frame would have to be made right and all but imagine being able to order those parts reproduced and building your own Blazer! All the sheet metal needed would be able to fit in a long skinny narrow box. Isn't that amazing?
Oh BTW if you havent seen the other thread the whole idea of welding in a new WS frame is gone. I am converting a 71 PU cab into the Jimmy. |

hey,im just a little farther than you, and i know what your going through,ive got a 71 blazer,basically a basket case, and just got th e floor in, so i could mount the new bedsides,shortbed sides cut down to fit and its worth it, to save one of these from the junkyard,good luck.

Ok if you use a pu cab to replace the floor and windshield frame do you cut the cab in the center of the rocker or leave part of the door frame, which is the best spot?

Change of plans, instead of welding a new windsheild frame onto the exsisting Jimmy body I decided to hack up a pickup cab.
I am planning on cutting behind the door pillar, I cut part of the door pillar off which I shouldn't have so I have to weld it back on. Last edited by Gee_Emm; 02-24-2005 at 12:36 AM. |
