72 4wd SB350/TH350 - I get about 10.5, 12 if I'm really nice, but I'm not often that nice.

When I drive nicely, 10-12 mpg. My normal driving? I can almost see the gauge move sometimes. Last trip of 76 miles cost me 15 gal (5 mpg). Great around town, but it ain't going on long trips anytime soon!

Not sure why, but my 3.73 350 truck is hitting about nine in the winter. I was up as high as 13 last summer.

Re: Whats your 67-72 chevy 2wd or 4wd gettin on fuel millage?

My '72 K2500 350/TH350 w/3.54:1 gears gets 12.5 mpg consistently with the country road/hiway combo I normally drive. I haven't checked since I took the 12.50/33s off and went back to the stock 235/85s,but I doubt it changed much. It gets better mileage than the '89 K1500 350TBI/700r4 w/lame crazy-tall gears that I've been driving this winter. My old '72 K/20 Highlander 400SBC/4spd w/4.10s & 12.50/35s got 12.5 mpg, too. It seems odd but I check both '72s over and over. It had so much torque and the manual giving total lock-up that I could run it along with hardly any throttle. I only ran it at about 60-65 mph on the hiway.

Re: Whats your 67-72 chevy 2wd or 4wd gettin on fuel millage?

I've kept track since the day I bought it.
4x4, 350 with 3-speed manual that was slowly converted to a 383 with th350. 3.73 axels.

Best ever was 13.5 (350 engine, 3-speed manual)
Now with the slush box and 383 I get 9.5 all day long.

In the winter I get 3-5 mpg but that is only one tank that usually lasts from November to March. This year with all the snow I had to throw 12 gallons out of jerry cans in (I don't drive it on the salty roads). I may be looking at a new all time low.

1970 stepside 2 WD. 350 engine, 700r4 trans., 3.08 rear end, Q-jet carb & HEI. I get 16 mpg combination & 18 down the road. I was shooting for 20 but just can't get there.

My '67 shortie 454/th350 is averaging 12 since I put the 3.07 rear in it... Rebuilding the Q-jet made a difference too.

Re: Whats your 67-72 chevy 2wd or 4wd gettin on fuel millage?

id like to get a 454 for my picup but leaning more on the side of getting the 4 speed..also i have a 4.56 gear ratio and a 350 the gears kill my fuel, i dont know what its getting for milleage but its not extremely bad. another thing id say is change my gears over from 4.56 to 3.73 just wondering how it would do then.

With all these numbers, a variable to throw out is your odometer - if you are using that, make sure it's accurate, because mine's about 20 percent off. (I'm gonna fix that some day...)

350 with Edelbrock and headers/TH350/3.07 rear end and 31" tires gets about 12 on the highway at 70 - 75 mph. Less around town - I'm guessing 10.

Re: Whats your 67-72 chevy 2wd or 4wd gettin on fuel millage?

I'm an official member of the 10/12 club. And worse when I pull the boat. I've got the 3.55 Posi rear axle sitting in front of the garage waiting to do the swap from the 4.11 in there now but that is also part of the swap to the Cad 500 and turbo 400 package that is waiting to be dropped in.

The 70 with a 307, power pack heads, cast iron intake and spread bore Holley with 3.73 Gears and four speed got 16 on the road going to Texas. It got about 12 coming back with a loaded 16 foot stock trailer behind it.

These old time gear driven speedos are not as accurate as the new electronic ones or as accurate as gps.I base mine on where I drive and knowing the mileage from point A to B.Just a weekend cruiser not a DD.

Re: Whats your 67-72 chevy 2wd or 4wd gettin on fuel millage?

I took just over a 300 mile round trip at the end of the summer and averaged 11 mpg. Thats with a 4x4 LWB, 31" tires, 350/350 and a junky quadrajet. PO really cobbled things together with the carb so I'm hoping when I replace it soon it will give me some more power, more mpg or both.
