to look at trucks parked out in fields and next to peoples houses and think of what parts you could get from them?

Re: is it wrong....
yeah i have a bad habbit of looking in driveways and fields and thinking, man what parts could i get off that? but in all reality i would never walk up to someone's front door and ask to take parts off their trucks unless i knew they were parting the truck out. what got me thinking about this is i went and looked at some parts from a 67 chevy that i was thinking about grabbing for my 72 gmc(the 67 is a CL partout) and the guy has an insane amount of vehicles that he is starting to part out and get rid of. and what's awesome about the 67 is the guy is going to let me pull the entire front sheet metal off this truck for $50, and i think he might let me take the heater ducting and engine bay box as well. and the front clip is in pretty decent shape, the usual battery rott in the passenger front pocket, a little rott in the rear lower, some minor damage around the headlight bezzle area, but that's it. the support seems pretty straight with no rott and the tray doesn't look completely rotted out like most originals do.

Re: is it wrong....
I stopped at a guys house once to ask about a wrecked 67 that he had. I had never seen this man before in my life btw. We talked a while about trucks and I asked him if he was parting the truck or selling it at all and he said no way Im gonna fix it up. I said alright and thanks for your time and he stopped me and told me where a truck was that I might get parts from. I thought that sounds like nearly where I live. So I asked for more detailed directions. He proceeded to tell me where I live and which garage my truck was in and what it looked like. Hmm I thought. So I asked him how he knew about this truck and he said a friend of his had shown it to him which was another person I didnt know. So I kindly informed him that if him or his friend decided to have another look they might leave a few ounces heavier than when they came. LOL I live almost 6 miles out of town surrounded by woods on nearly 40 acres and the garage couldnt be seen from the road. I didnt have to wonder what happened to my instrument clusters and other various parts that came up missing anymore.

Re: is it wrong....
yeah i don't actually go out of my way to physically look at things, just from the road and think on my daily 45 minute commute. if i'm gonna actually stop and look at something then it will have a for sale sign or i am trying to get ideas/insperation for my truck. otherwise i look at trucks that i find for sale on CL.

Re: is it wrong....
man i wish i could buy a whole parts rig but i don't have the driveway space. i can barely fit my 72 lwb, her 01 acura tl(she parks right behind the 72) and my 01 tahoe in the driveway without hanging out in over the sidewalk. well my 01 doesn't have that problem cause i park off to the right of both the tl and the 72, but if i pull the 72 forward towards the garage anymore and i won't be able to get around it with the door down. and we park like this due to her being on the day shift in everett and me working the night shift in oak harbor. otherwise we'd both park off to the right of the 72. part of the reason i wanna do the swb conversion. and it's only gonna get worse when she gets her mdx cause of the twins. so if i do manage the swb conversion we'll have more space in the driveway for both rigs. that and i need to finish the front suspension on the malibu so i can get the 72 in the garage. what's holding me up from doing any body work on it is the weather and being on nights. so just as soon as i can get the arms rust free with new bushings and ball joints i can get the brake update done and get it out of the garage

Re: is it wrong....
I do it all the time, and i also wonder where they live when i see them on the street driving around, not to steal any thing just want to just get to know where the trucks at and who drives it. I like knowing where all the trucks from this erra are in my town so when i see one i know where its home is.
Stano where do you live? Your place sounds familiar. That would tick me off if someone came up to my place and actually messed around with my truck, wouldnt care if they were looking at it when i was there but no way would i allow it when i wasnt!
